Monday, December 2 at 12:00 pm ET, Hasina Jalal will discuss her paper, “Resilience and Resistance: Afghan Women’s Fight Against the Taliban and the Role of Global Economic Sanctions.” The research analyzes the ways women-led Afghan social movements resist Taliban control. Drawing on interviews with activists, former professionals, and artists, Jalal’s research sheds light on the unique challenges Afghan women face and their resilience amid intersecting crises.
Hasina Jalal is a Ph.D. candidate in Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh and an Agora Fellow at the Center for Governance and Markets. She holds an MA in Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of Northern Iowa, where she was a Fulbright Scholar, and an MBA from the American University of Afghanistan.
