On Thursday, February 27, at 9:00 am, Stefan Toepler will present “Looking at Chinese Foundations with a Western Lens.” Based on work conducted with Katja Levy and Qun Wang, Toepler will review key themes of the cross-national comparative literature on philanthropic foundations and explore how well they apply to the case of foundations in China. This will suggest new areas of research on Chinese foundations, but also highlight the limits of trying to understand Chinese philanthropy by applying Western models.
